Linz

Linz is the capital of Upper Austria and the third largest city in Austria with more than 200,000 inhabitants. The “steel city” Linz has its roots as an industrial city, but today it is also widely known for art and culture, which earned it the title of European Capital of Culture in 2009. The city is also the namesake of the famous “Linzer Torte”. Due to the presence of several universities in and around Linz, as well as the settlement of several global corporations, Linz is one of the most noteworthy technology hubs in Austria.

Johannes Kepler University Linz

The Johannes Kepler University Linz was founded in 1966 and bears the name of the astronomer Johannes Kepler, who taught in Linz in the 17th century. In 1969, the JKU was the first Austrian university to offer a computer science degree program. In 2019, it was once again the first Austrian university to offer a degree program in Artificial Intelligence.
